Success Stories

Has Rescate Todos Santos helped you? We’d love to share your story!
Buddy
Rescued from an abandoned lot in Todos Santos, July 2020, Buddy lived with a caring foster family to nurse him back to health for a few months and was later adopted to a loving forever family in September 2020.
Before
Before we rescued him Buddy was living in an abandoned lot near Los Pinos market. He was malnourished, his hair matted and covered in ticks and fleas. He walked with his head heavy and just looked sad and worn from life. Once we found him we began to feed him every day and he slowly began to trust us and look forward to our visits.
1 week later
We rescued Buddy and took him right to the Sunday clinic to clean him up, neuter him and give him his shots. We had a foster home lined up for him and his foster family helped us take care of him and clean him up. They took him back home so he could wake up in his new surroundings and feel safe. Little by little he started to perk up.
6 weeks later
After six weeks of love and care (and lots of food and treats) from his foster family, Buddy was healthy, happy and ready to be adopted. He found a wonderful loving home here in Todos Santos and is living his best life with his new family. Look how he holds his head high now and is happy to see visitors. He is a whole new dog!
Copper
Copper came to our clinic by his owner, wrapped up in a cardboard box with a broken arm. In fact it was more than broken arm… a neighbour had chopped at his arm with a machete and it was barely still attached. Medical treatment was out of reach financially for his owner, so she waited until our free clinic, 3 days later. Our doctors took him into surgery right away and ultimately decided the leg couldn’t be saved and had to be amputated. At the same time he showed signs of advanced parvo virus and began treatment. It was touch and go for a while, a few weeks on an IV and constant care, but Copper pulled through and was nursed back to health by our founder, Chanelle. One of her best friends came to visit from California and they fell in love! Now he happily lives in Ventura with his “furever family” and his new brother Sully! :)
Food Program
Provided dog food at height of coronavirus pandemic when they were struggling to feed their family, let alone their dogs.
As town shut down at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, many found themselves out of work and struggling to provide food for their families. During this time we were able to provide free pet food to families in the community that truly had no other option.
We have now expanded the program to provide subsidized pet food for those who can pay something and in the extreme situations where they are unable to pay at all, we provide the food free of charge.
