A little progress each day adds up to big results.
Our Story
We are a team of dedicated volunteers, who tirelessly respond day after day to animals in need in our community of Todos Santos & surrounding areas.
As our efforts become known through the community, more people look to us for support. Wether their animal is ill or injured, or they spot a homeless animal in crisis. Many times their situation makes it impossible to provide help or seek out traditional aid on their own, and without support there are very few, if any other options for these animals.
Education is a large part of our teams rescue effort, and we continue to work with individuals and families from our weekly clinic. Our plans are to introduce educational programmes into the school system to really make an impact to the children of the community. Offering fun interactive lessons, excursions and experiences. Our team is also happy to educate visitors to our community on the most beneficial ways to volunteer and make a difference in the community during their stay.
Our Founder
Chanelle Kelly grew up with a love for animals and nature on a beautiful island on Canada's west coast. At 12 years old her dream was to become a veterinarian, move to the plains of the Serengeti to study african wildlife, live in the rain forests with Jane Goodall and to collect as many animals on her parents’ farm as would allow. As a child she would bring home injured animals to care for almost daily. Constantly nurturing a injured animal back to health, or helping the farm animals deliver their young, often sleeping the barn to keep watch.
Years later, through her love of travel, wherever her journeys took her, her huge heart could never ignore an animal in need, and began her international efforts in rescue. From injured pelicans on the beaches on Mexico, abandoned cats on the islands of Hawaii, and sick or hungry dogs on the coast of Panama & Honduras. Always stopping to make time to help any animals that crossed her path.
In 2008 She decided to focus her time starting her own rescue in the coastal jungles of Nicaragua where she worked with visiting international vets in spay & neuter clinics and eventually hosted her own with the help of a few dedicated volunteers at her side. Here she experienced some extreme rescue events that took her experience of rescue to the next level, with hands on surgical training, and even bringing a dog back to life with CPR. It was then she decided to have her dream of owning her own Veterinarian clinic to provide even more access to animals and their people in need.
Chanelle's heart is saddened each day to see the pain and suffering of the animals around her and is frustrated by having limited solutions at hand, especially as saying no to helping anyone that asks is not an option in her vocabulary. As a result, Rescate Todos Santos was officially founded with the intent of creating a friendly, affordable & accessible place for everyone in the community to receive the care and support they all deserve.
